(Thanks)giving every day

I’ve talked about how important the practice of gratitude and being thankful is in impacting our thoughts and emotions. But how exactly do we do this in away that has a real impact?

Be Intentional - Take a few minutes each morning to really think about those things you are grateful for that day. Let your mind really think on it and not just spit out the big generic ones (family, friends, etc.). Make this a natural part of every day.

Be Curious - Find what works for you! Take 5 minutes to reflect while you drink your coffee. Write in a journal. Jot down 3 things in your daily planner or calendar. Turn the music down and think about these on your way to work.

Be Mindful - Gratitude really impacts us when we don’t just say the things and forget them, but when we let that mindset seep into our brains throughout the day. When we get distracted with our to-do lists, stressors at work, feeling overwhelmed - notice this. Pause for a few seconds and review those things you are grateful for today. Let that remind you that there are good things despite whatever chaos you might be going through in that moment. This is where gratitude has a lasting impact.

Happy Thanksgiving!
